The Tipping Point: The "Kepohchi"

I was pouring over an interesting book, titled " The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell. Still on the early pages though.

It talks about how things become epidemic past a 'tipping point'  - both in life and in business. How things gets viral (like Hush Puppies; that were in near demise at one point of time) and start generating millions. It talks about the characters involved in causing the spread, the epidemic.

Well, one character that I find interesting are those they call the "Maven". Mavens are crucial in creating an epidemic, because their word of mouth is powerful and influential...plus they tend to talk a lot.

The Mavens are interesting because they remind me of those in our culture, who we call "Kepoh-Chi" or "Kepohci". Those who like to "jaga tepi kain orang lain" and "mulut murai". Their characters fit the description, only that it is being used in a positive and profitable way.

The take away is this, if you control the kepohchi, you can make money....

But good luck with that...hehe
