I am pro Malay but sometimes I am ashamed of what Malays do to each other.
I am saying this in the context of the New Economic Policy and how some Malays have manipulated the intention, the idea and the policy to enrich themselves at the expense the middle and lower income Malays and to a large extent the rest of the population.
I do agree with Tun Mahathir and his idea that the Bumiputera Policies are still needed to fix the racial (economic) disparity between the Bumiputera and the non-bumiputera. However, I am also adamant that the policies have been abused such that it has created a clear and present disparity within the Bumiputera community itself. In as way, just as Bumiputera was discriminated by the British policies during colonization (historical debt), the majority of Bumiputera was again discriminated by the new policies for the past few decades. But this time, the historical debt is not owed by the non-bumiputera, but from certain group of individuals from within the Bumiputera community itself.
And if the Bumiputera recognise the original historical debt and the need to have policies to rectify it; they then must recognise the secondary historical debt and press for policies to rectify it.
In the word of Charles Barkley "I might be wrong, but I doubt it"
